Automatic BUG connection

When the BUG is connected to a local area network with the SDK, a protocol called SLP is used to let the SDK 'discover' the BUG automatically. Other than connecting the BUG and SDK in the LAN, there should be no user actions required.

Verify that the computer running Eclipse Classic and Dragonfly is connected to a local area network (LAN):

  1. Connect the computer to a LAN via an ethernet cable.
  2. Wait approximately 5 seconds.
  3. Observe BUG connection in MyBUGS view.???HOW???
Note : Other networking mediums such as USB and Wifi may be used here in the future but are currently not supported.
  • Bug runtime ???WHAT'S THIS??? must be running on target environment as specified in URL.

Create New Static Bug Connection (Optional)

Static connections are used when automatic discovery fails.

To create a 'static' connection to BUG device from SDK:

  1. Go to File > New > Project
Or, click the New Bug Project icon in the toolbar.
  2. In the New Project wizard, click the arrow to open the Dragonfly node.
  3. Select Bug Connection, then click Next.
  4. Type in a name for Bug Connection. This will appear after wizard completion as the name of the connection.
  5. Type in a URL for the Bug Connection. For the hardware development board in-house, use http://bug:8082
  • Bug runtime ???WHAT'S THIS??? must be running on target environment as specified in URL.
